6 Iconic K-Pop Sub-Units That We’ll Probably Never See Again

They will be missed.

K-Pop is dominated by new and old male groups, female groups, and soloists. Somewhere in between are short-term sub-units created from pre-existing acts, usually only active for a limited period.

For whatever reason, these sub-units will likely never make another comeback. Check out some of those groups below:

1. MOBB

WINNER‘s Mino and iKON‘s Bobby formed the sub-unit MOBB in 2016 following their success in Mnet‘s Show Me The Money. They released solo songs and a unit title track “Full House”.

To the dismay of fans, they will likely never comeback as Yang Hyun Suk was “disappointed” with how low their unit songs charted.

2. HI SUHYUN

HI SUHYUN only released one bop (“I’m Different”) before going back to their own careers. Lee Hi and AKMU‘s Suhyun were the female vocalists of YG Entertainment, so their duo made sense to everyone.

Sadly for those who wanted to see more of the two together, Lee Hi left YG Entertainment following the expiration of her contract.

3. YOUNIQUE UNIT

YOUNIQUE UNIT from SM Entertainment was unique from every other group because of one thing: the members were all of the best dancers from the company. Super Junior’s EunhyukSuper Junior-M’s Henry, Girl’s Generation‘s Hyoyeon, SHINee’s TaeminEXO-K’s Kai and EXO-M’s Luhan were all members of this one-time unit.

Given how Henry and Luhan are no longer with the company, YOUNIQUE UNIT will probably never be revived, especially with the debut of the “2020 version” SUPER M.

4. EXO-K and EXO-M

While EXO-K will likely never become a unit again following the success of EXO as a whole, it is EXO-M that is almost completely certain to never release a new song. With Kris, Luhan, and Tao leaving the company to pursue solo careers in China, SM Entertainment has few incentives to bring the group back together.

5. PRISTIN V

PRISTIN V was made up of the “girl crush” members of PRISTIN: Nayoung, Roa, Eunwoo, Rena, and Kyulkyung. Their song “Get It” displayed their dance talent and charisma.

PRISTIN disbanded in 2019, and members Roa and Eunwoo from PRISTIN V re-debuted in HINAPIA.

6. Orange Caramel

Finally, Orange Caramel was considered one of the best sub-units in K-Pop. With popularity that could rival their main group After School, Lizzy, Nana, and Raina brought out the quirkiest side of K-Pop.

Everyone but Nana has since left Pledis Entertainment, making it unlikely that Orange Caramel will ever spread their happy virus together again.
