BIGBANG’s Seungri reveals why he closed down his idol academy

BIGBANG’s Seungri finally explained why he closed his idol academy, his personal business venture, on Weekly Idol.

Appearing as guests on the program for the very first time, Seungri talked about Seungri’s Academy. He opened the business that taught singing and dancing when he was 23 years old and produced a number of talents. Idols who trained under his academy include WINNER’s Jinwoo, BTS’ J-Hope, B.A.P’s Zelo and more.

The academy even opened a branch overseas, however, the singer eventually had to close the business. Although he admitted that he did not personally run the business, there were a few issues that made him shut it down. According to Seungri, there was an incident where a teacher and a student got close and he received a call from the parent looking for their daughter. Seungri added, “In order to avoid misunderstandings, I stopped the business.”

Among the group, Seungri is known for his business ventures. He has invested in multiple businesses, including a restaurant. Recently, he disclosed that he owns Cristiano Ronaldo’s image rights in South Korea.
