Idol School’s Top 9 Students Doesn’t Feature Any Former SM or YG Trainees

Mnet‘s Idol School just aired its second episode and fans were shocked by how much the rankings have changed.

Following the initial skills test from week 1, the girls participated in the filming of their music video during the second episode. While some excelled, others struggled to make an impression. Here are the current standings on the show, based on votes from the audience.

10. Seo Herin (↓6)

Birthday: February 26, 2002
Blood Type: A
Motto: “Everything happens for a reason.”

Seo Herin is a former SM Entertainment trainee and starred on Disney Korea’s Mickey Mouse Club. In episode 2, she struggled during the music video portion and ranked among the bottom ten, which could explain her drop in rankings. However, she did show off some impressive moves during the rest of the episode.

Although she did make the top 10, only the top 9 contestants by the end of the show will debut with Idol School‘s upcoming girl group.

9. Lee Na Kyung (↑5)

Birthday: June 1, 2000
Blood Type: A
Motto: “Trying something and failing is better than regretting never doing it.”

Lee Na Kyung made her first appearance in the top 10 on the second episode of the show. In one of her videos, she revealed that she studied in China for two years, so she can speak and understand Chinese.

8. Lee Sae Rom (↑5)

Birthday: January 7, 1997
Blood Type: B
Motto: “Happiness is a habit.”

Lee Sae Rom was first noticed as a Han Chae Young lookalike, but she’s proven that she’s much more than just that. She showed off her moves by dancing to BLACKPINK‘s “Whistle” in episode two and gained a lot of fans for her mature charms.


7. Jo Yuri (↑1)

Birthday: October 22, 2001
Blood Type: AB
Motto: “You can.”

Jo Yuri also received some attention for resembling WekiMeki‘s Yoojung. She continues to gain support because of her unique charms and reactions.

6. Baek Ji Hyeon (↑3)

Birthday: April 17, 2003
Blood Type: B
Motto: “My way.”

Baek Ji Hyeon was formerly a trainee at Woollim Entertainment. She continues to show off her youthful energy and has become known for her adorable eye-smile.

5. Natty (↓3)

Birthday: May 30, 2002
Blood Type: O
Motto: “Don’t try to be better than others and just focus on improving yourself!”

Natty is a former JYP Entertainment trainee and participated in TWICE’s survival show SIXTEEN. At the end of the show’s first episode, Natty indeed ranked the highest in the class in the talent evaluation, scoring  8.63 out of 10. Even the show’s teachers have been impressed by her skills.

Natty continued to show off her skills by winning one of the two dance break spots in the group’s MV and displayed leadership during the dance practice, but dropped down three rankings during episode 2.

4. Park Jiwon (↑1)

Birthday: March 20, 1998
Blood Type: A
Motto: “Have courage and be kind.”

Park Jiwon is a former JYP Entertainment trainee, and participated in TWICE‘s survival program SIXTEEN. Park Jiwon really broke out of her shell and showed her silly side during episode 2’s dance break challenge, helping her move up to fourth place.

3. Lee Chaeyoung (–)

Birthday: May 14, 2000
Blood Type: B
Motto: “People who can do well, will do well.”

Lee Chaeyoung was the only Idol School member in the top 10 to stay in the same rank as last week. While she didn’t exactly stand out in episode 2, she didn’t show any weaknesses either.

2. Lee Hae In (↓1)

Birthday: July 4, 1994
Blood Type: A
Motto: “Don’t doubt your first thought. That faith will lead you.”

Lee Hae In was a participant on Mnet‘s Produce 101, where she came in at 17th place.

Once again, Lee Hae In continued to struggle in the skills portion of the show. But despite this, she still remains in the top 2.

1. Song Hayoung (↑6)

Birthday:  September 29, 1997
Blood Type: A
Motto: “Don’t lose sight of what’s important and keep working hard.”

Song Hayoung really showed off her skills in episode 2, winning the dance break part along with Natty. She’s really become a fan favorite due to her stunning visuals and undeniable appeal. She moved up a shocking 6 ranks, taking the number one spot away from Lee Hae In.
