Netizens Call Out Jae For Allegedly “Lying” In His Apology To JAMIE

They believe Jae knew better!

Jae since released another apology through a live stream explaining that he’s spoken to JAMIE and they will meet up to discuss the matters. He has also said that, until then, he will be taking a break from streaming until the situation has been sorted.

Jae recently came under fire after making a comment during his Twitch stream about the image and character of fellow K-Pop idol JAMIE. In the stream, Jae talked to his viewers on different topics, brought up JAMIE, describing her in a way that netizens found distasteful and derogatory.

Okay, now that I’m not in K-Pop anymore, I can say this. Why is JAMIE trying to be a thot? That’s right, I said it, tell her! I said it. Tell her!

— Jae

The term “Thot” is a derogatory term that refers to a woman who has many casual sexual encounters or relationships.

Many netizens were shocked by the comment as Jae and JAMIE are known to be friends and have done several projects together, including After School Club and DIVE Studios’ podcasts. Although some fans defended the comments because they’re “friends,” others think he overstepped boundaries with his comment.

When JAMIE heard about the comments, she responded on Twitter and was unsurprisingly shocked by what Jae had said. She also shared another tweet where she shared her displeasure at women being looked down upon and being the victim for the benefit of others online.

After JAMIE responded and he was met with negative comments from netizens, Jae apologized for the situation.

After the apology was shared, many netizens raised concerns about how genuine and accurate the statement was. In particular, they spoke about the part in the apology where Jae explained, “What I thought was friendly banter, I now realize was not.”

In no way was I referencing any kind of physical behavior or energy (trying to take a slight at Jamie) but rather the aura of what people refer to as a ‘baddie’ and thought the two were synonymous.

— Jae

In particular, Jae’s apology implied that he wasn’t aware of the meaning of the word “Thot” and the negative connotations surrounding the terms. Many netizens shared evidence proving that Jae was aware of the word’s meaning.

One of those was a screenshot shared on Jae’s Instagram where a user had sent him the message, “U a thot.” Netizens believe that Jae’s replies showcase that he knew the negative connotations of the phrase.

Another clip that was shared came from another stream Jae did. During the video, the hosts discussed some of the usernames. A few of those mentioned could be deemed “Sexual” like “bussybandit” and “buttmunchies.” He then described them as “Thot ass names.”

Many then shared that Jae must’ve known how negative and derogatory because of the words in the stream. After using the word “Thot,” his words seemed to imply that he thought JAMIE might not be happy with his words.

She’s going to call me and be like, ‘Why did you call me this?’ I can’t believe she’s like a little sister to me. Please, lawyers, don’t call me. I have money. JAMIE, I’m poor. Please, just let me be.

— Jae

When netizens started sharing these clips, many claimed that his apology didn’t seem “genuine” due to the fact that they believed he knew the seriousness of the term when he said it.

They then explained that this evidence made them think that Jae was “lying” in the apology about not knowing what he said.
