“Minari” Actress Youn Yuh Jung Claims Her American Son Is Worried About Her Visiting Due To Anti-Asian Hate Crimes

Her son in LA doesn’t think it’s safe for her to visit.

In light of Minari actress, Youn Yuh Jung‘s Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, the legendary actress spoke about her plans of attending in an interview with Forbes.

Regarding Youn Yuh Jung’s plans to visit the States for the ceremony, one of her two Korean-American sons who’s living in LA is reportedly concerned given the current circumstances surrounding anti-Asian hate crimes.

My two sons are Korean Americans living in the states. My son living in LA, he is worrying about me coming to the states for the Oscars because you might get hurt on the street or something like that.

According to the actress, her son even suggested that she come with security.

Who knows? ‘You’re an old woman. They’re aiming old woman. Can’t you have security guard or something?’

Following Youn Yuh Jung’s nomination, the Oscars requested for her attendance with Minari co-star, Yeri Han, and the two are reportedly in the process of adjusting their schedules.

The 93rd Academy Awards is set to take place on April 25.
