She will sit out the tour in order to recuperate.

Red Velvet‘s Wendy will not participate in the group’s upcoming tour.

On January 6, an announcement was issued on Red Velvet’s official Japan website that stated that due to the injuries that Wendy sustained, she would be unable to join the rest of the members on their tour, titled Red Velvet Arena Tour in Japan – La Rouge.

Read the statement below:

Thank you for your endless support for Red Velvet.

Wendy will be unable to participate in the upcoming tour due to the injuries she suffered after falling from a stage during rehearsals at an event in Korea last year. The tour, however, will be held as scheduled starting January 11, with the remaining four members, Irene, Seulgi, Joy and Yeri.

We apologize profusely to everyone who looked forward to Wendy’s participation in the tour. We will help and assist anybody who wishes to get a refund on their tickets.

Once they are decided, we will inform you of Wendy’s plans to resume activities in Japan.

We appreciate your unending support for Wendy and Red Velvet.

Thank you.

On December 25, 2019, Wendy suffered a major accident during the stage rehearsals for the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejun, where she fell from a stage at a 2.5 meter height. Following the accident, she is now on hiatus to recover form her injuries until further notice.

Red Velvet made their comeback with their repackaged album The ReVe Festival: Finale, and title track “Psycho”.

We wish Wendy as full and speedy recovery, and the remaining members of Red Velvet a successful tour!
