Weki Meki’s Yoojung Praised For Respecting Pronouns In New TikTok Video

Respect pronouns! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

Weki Meki‘s Yoojung is always making her 785,000 TikTok followers smile, but her latest video has fans touched and praising her for openly respecting pronouns.

In the TikTok clip, Yoojung can be seen acting out an audio that starts with, “Pronouns are simple.” After listing some common pronounsβ€””he, him“, “she, her“, “they, them,”β€”the Weki Meki singer goes off course by adding “please date me” to the mix.

To top it off, Yoojung captioned the TikTok with, “Pronouns aren’t difficult” in Korean.

For those who aren’t familiar with the theme, the video puts a humorous spin on the movement to respect people’s pronouns of choice, whether they use the traditional “he” and “she”, the non-binary “they”, or newly created pronouns such as “xe.” The movement was primarily created to support those on the transgender and genderqueer spectrum, including people who identify as trans, non-binary, agender, and so on.

The original audio Yoojung used in her TikTok was created by Isaiah Washington, a 22-year-old social media personality who goes by relatableisaiah to his 829,000 followers on TikTok. Since he created the audio earlier this year, it’s already been used in almost 20,000 TikTok clips.

Within three hours, Yoojung’s video reached almost 45,000 likes and over 1,500 replies as well as shares across various other social media platforms. As soon as the video reached K-Pop fans on social media, Ki-Lings and non-Weki Meki fans alike found themselves touched by Yoojung’s endeavor to respect pronouns.

Given that pronouns like “he” and “she” are rarely used in South Korean speech, as well as transgender and genderqueer movements still being seen as taboo by many, fans were impressed to see Yoojung learning about pronouns and speaking out about what she believes in.

And this isn’t the first time Yoojung has openly shared her views on gender and sexuality. In a past interview, she once told the host that she doesn’t care about gender when it comes to ideal type, instead preferring to focus on her feelings.

Many fans believe that Yoojung was sharing a similar sentiment in the TikTok video, indicating that she’s open to dating people of all gender identities. Either way, fans can only hope that more idols will follow in her footsteps when it comes to supporting LGBTQ+ movements and boldly speaking their minds.
